Landscapes and Creatures of the Hocking Hills

You gasp, freeze, and find yourself holding your breath to contain your giddiness. I’ve found that a walk in nature is elevated when you spot a critter, and better yet, if it spots you. For a brief, transcendent moment your eyes meet, souls connect, and then it quickly skitters off into the distance.

I hope these paintings recreate that feeling of excitement. From afar the images depict sun-dappled woods or a beautiful sunset in the Hocking Hills, but – look closer – you may not be alone. And what a wonderful moment that is!

Many of these works also have an under-painting, not visible in the final piece, consisting of a positive statement or uplifting words, which I’ve re-written on the back. My wish is that the hidden details within the artwork add an extra layer of fascination, joy, and uplifting energy.
